Gray (1825 p. 337) established within the Order Primates the Family Hominidae with the tribes: Hominina, Simiia, Simia, Presbytina, Cercopithecina, Cynocephalina. At the time Gray was writing the suffixes for tribes had not been standardized. Under the current ICZN, the Prinicple of Coordination (Article 36) establishes that family names, such as Hominidae, are also available for all ranks at the family level including Superfamily, Subfamily, Tribe etc. Thus, Gray (1825) establishes Hominoidea, Hominidae, Homininae, Hominini.
